November 19, 2015
Meetings are now held on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month. A special event will also be held each month, with the focus upon fun and fellowship and member interactions. In addition to noting this for your own schedule, please inform any visitors or prospective members.

Your editor will list speakers for the 1st and 3rd Thursdays, as usual.  Nick Casteel, Social Chair, will list Upcoming Events (activities) in the Upcoming Events section of our Club Website and your editor will include information on each upcoming event in the newsletters when available.  Otherwise, please contact Nick for information about upcoming Events.
President Brian May opened the meeting and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-Way Test. Mike Saigh gave the Invocation.
Kirsten Douglass spoke on Essential Oils today.  She explained that this is an old concept and references can be found in the Bible and rmanuscripts from ancient Egypt.  They can be used topically (with carrier oil), by ingesting them or by inhaling them.  She then described why one might choose a particular one - for particular ailments and conditions.  Thank you, Kirsten.
Our next regular MEETING will be on December 3 with speaker TBA.  Our next EVENT is a gift wrapping party to wrap the gifts for the upcoming parties for special needs children.  It will be held on Friday, December 11 but the location has yet to be determined.  Watch for emails with details when they are available or check with Prez Brian May or Events Chair Nick  Casteel.

Planning ahead
Speakers (as far as known) are listed in the Speakers section of this newsletter and on the Club Website.  Nick Casteel will be sending out information on Events and it will be included in the newsletters when it is received.

The Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) campaign to raise funds for the Rotary Foundation is continuing (July 2015 - June 2016).  EVERY Rotarian is asked to give $100 (that's just $2.00 per week), or as much as he/she can afford, to the Rotary Foundation.  This can be done by going to the RI website and using your credit card to donate to the Annual Fund - Share.  If you are not sure how to do this online, John and Joyce Joyce will be happy to assist you.  You can also make your annual donation in installments.  When your donations to this fund total $1000, you become a Paul Harris Fellow.  Our Club needs 100% participation, so please give whatever you can ($10 from EVERY member will give us 100% participation so please participate in this vital ROTARY campaign).  The DDF money we receive for Rotary grants comes from these donations made 3 years earlier so we are really helping our Club and our District do good works, like the Bonao BioSand projects, when we contribute.  Steve Neirinck is chairperson of this so let him know when you contribute so he can add your donation to the others from our Club and see how close we are to our goal.

ANNOUNCEMENT AT DISTRICT STAFF MEETING:  HEREAFTER, ANY CLUB NOT GIVING $50 PER CAPITA TO THE ANNUAL FUND OF EREY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO APPLY FOR ROTARY FOUNDATION DISTRICT GRANTS.  Please donate so YOUR Club is not denied this opportunity to obtain grants (we had several for the Bonao BioSand projects) for projects.

STEPS FOR DONATING ON LINE:
1) rotary.org website
2) GIVE NOW button for Annual Fund and Share option
3) ANNUAL FUND - SHARE (be sure to select this option - for Paul Harris Points and DDF funds)
4) CONTINUE
5) Choose currency, amount of your contribution AND whether you want to give it in one gift, quarterly gifts or monthly gifts!  So convenient for all budgets!
Then enter your information, credit card, etc.  Don't know your Rotary ID number?  It's on the mailing label of your Rotarian Magazine.

Brian and Kristen May hosted the Euchre party which was attended by John and Joyce Joyce, Nick Casteel, Todd McKay and, naturally, Brian and Kristen.  Thanks Brian and Kirsten for hosting and for the delicious appetizers, too.

Our pizza party for emotionally impaired children at Maple Lane School will be on Thursday, December 17 beginning at 11:30.  Helpers need to arrive closer to 11:00 am, please.  Mr Magico will perform and John Joyce will play the piano during lunch.  FYI we serve pizza and pop and distribute tee shirts as gifts to the children.  It is a heartwarming event - be sure to come and help out.

Another heartwarming event will occur on Friday, December 18 when we will gather a little after 5:00 pm at the MISD building,

Hello Interact Club!  We know you are busy planning activities and we would really like to know about them so that we can put information in our newsletters.  PLEASE send information to us!  You can email it to me the Newsletter Editor, mrsjoyce2@wowway.com
The monthly Board meeting was held today, immediately preceding our regular meeting at Ike's.
Warren Rotary has invited us to attend their meeting on December 8 (Tues) to hear DGE Michael Angelo Caruso speak.  He's a dynamic speaker and will be District Governor beginning in July.  Warren Rotary meets at DeCarlo's Banquet Hall, 6015 Ten Mile, Warren.  Lunch (always delicious) is $10 but you MUST contact DeCarlos' or President Jan Loch (586-268-0683) to reserve (or they may run out of food!).

Rotary Foundation Gala on Nov 7 was attended by John and Joyce Joyce and Nick Casteel and was a delightful and informative event with great food and camaraderie.

Many Clubs have activities and it is fun to attend them, meet other Rotarians and see what other Clubs do.  You can find many of these listed on the District Website, www.rotary6380.org.  Check some out!  Then let the rest of the Club know what they missed!
