MEETING & SPECIAL EVENT CHANGES

Meetings are now held on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month. A special event will also be held each month, with the focus upon fun and fellowship and member interactions. In addition to noting this for your own schedule, please inform any visitors or prospective members.

Your speaker chairman will list speakers for the 1st and 3rd Thursdays. If you have suggestions for topics and/or speakers, please contact Marty Brown at 586-907-5003 or blestday@yahoo.com . Nick Casteel, Social Chair, will list Upcoming Events (activities) in the Upcoming Events section of our Club Website.    Please contact Nick at Nick@RichSparks.com or 586-914-5965 for information about upcoming Events.  Your feedback and suggestions will be appreciated.
TODAY'S MEETING
President Brian May opened the meeting and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-Way Test. Mike Saigh e gave the Invocation.  Our guests today were speaker Dr. Jay Eastman and guest Jazmine Early who learned about us from John J. at Bike Helmet Night in August.  Welcome!
TODAY'S PROGRAM
Dr. Jay Eastman of the Rochester Rotary Club gave a very informative presentation on the Rotary Foundation, it funding sources and its purposes.  He explained the importance of contributing annually to the Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) portion of the Annual Fund because that Rotary Foundation fund provides money for the World Fund and District Designated Fund and they are the 2 funds from which we and other Clubs can continue to receive funding for worthwhile projects locally, regionally and internationally.  Please see the next section of this newsletter for details and how to contribute to EREY - you can do so anytime during the Rotary year of July 1 to June 30.  In addition Jay suggested contributions to the Polio Plus and Permanent Funds and also expained recognitions given to those who contribute.  Thank you, Jay, for your very interesting presentation on this vital but sometimes little understood subject.
EVERY ROTARIAN EVERY YEAR (EREY)
The Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) campaign to raise funds for the Rotary Foundation is continuing (July 2015 - June 2016).  EVERY Rotarian is asked to give $100 (that's just $2.00 per week), or as much as he/she can afford, to the Rotary Foundation.  This can be done by going to the RI website and using your credit card to donate to the Annual Fund - Share.  If you are not sure how to do this online, John and Joyce Joyce will be happy to assist you.  You can also make your annual donation in installments.  When your donations to this fund total $1000, you become a Paul Harris Fellow.  Our Club needs 100% participation, so please give whatever you can ($10 from EVERY member will give us 100% participation so please participate in this vital ROTARY campaign).  The DDF money we receive for Rotary grants comes from these donations made 3 years earlier so we are really helping our Club and our District do good works, like the Bonao BioSand projects, when we contribute.  Steve Neirinck is chairperson of this so let him know when you contribute so he can add your donation to the others from our Club and see how close we are to our goal.

ANNOUNCEMENT AT DISTRICT STAFF MEETING:  HEREAFTER, ANY CLUB NOT GIVING $50 PER CAPITA TO THE ANNUAL FUND OF EREY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO APPLY FOR ROTARY FOUNDATION DISTRICT GRANTS.  Please donate so YOUR Club is not denied this opportunity to obtain grants (we had several for the Bonao BioSand projects) for projects.

STEPS FOR DONATING ON LINE:
1) rotary.org website
2) GIVE NOW button for Annual Fund and Share option
3) ANNUAL FUND - SHARE (be sure to select this option - for Paul Harris Points and DDF funds)
4) CONTINUE
5) Choose currency, amount of your contribution AND whether you want to give it in one gift, quarterly gifts or monthly gifts!  So convenient for all budgets!
Then enter your information, credit card, etc.  Don't know your Rotary ID number?  It's on the mailing label of your Rotarian Magazine.
